Mont-Royal: The most stunning views of Montreal

February 19, 2023

After Niagara Falls, let’s go to Montreal to continue our Canadian journey.

Every time I travel to Sin City I go to my favourite place: Mont-Royal or “the mountain” as it is called by the locals.

Not only is it beautiful in any season, but it also offers you the most stunning views of Montreal you need to see before you die.

The Kondiarionk lookout of Mont-Royal

I highly recommend you visit the Kondiarionk panoramic viewpoint during your stay in Montreal. Why should you go there? Because it’s THE place to watch the sunset with your favourite person.

In the first plan, the buildings of the city centre proudly stand in front of you. You can also admire the Saint Lawrence River, from the Jacques Cartier bridge on the left to the Champlain bridge on the right. Impossible to get bored of it.

Once there, don’t miss the Chalet du Mont-Royal, a large Beaux-Arts style building, that houses pictorial artworks illustrating major moments in Montreal’s History by renowned artists such as Marc-Aurèle Fortin, Paul-Émile Borduas and Edwin H. Holgate.

With a breathtaking view of the Kondiaronk lookout, it is an ideal place to warm up with hot chocolate and pastries in the winter or cool down with lemonade or ice cream in the summer.

How to get to Mont-Royal Park in Montreal?

You can get to Mont Royal Park, specifically the belvedere, by walking up Peel Street and taking the (long) stairs up to the top of the mountain.

You can also take the bus (the 11 leaves from the Plateau, one of the city’s districts). It will drop you off about a 10-minute walk from the site. This option is nice because you arrive directly at Mont-Royal Park.

All information is available on the City of Montreal’s website.

Take the time to discover Montreal from above. This way, you will be able to grasp the beauty of the city, admire the North American character of the buildings and succumb to the charm of the diversity of the landscape.
